Clearing the Path for RNG
As part of our vision of being a leader in delivering energy that contributes to a sustainable future, Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is a full-service renewable waste-to-energy development company. We generate and convert biogas from waste into pipeline-quality renewable natural gas (RNG) for use in vehicles, businesses, homes and by other natural gas consumers, operating as FPU Renewables in the southeast and Onsight Renewables in the northeast.

Full Circle Dairy
Announced in February 2023, a dairy waste-to-RNG facility is currently under construction at Full Circle Dairy in Lee, Florida. The facility is designed to convert dairy cow manure into an average of 100,000 dekatherms annually, with the first injection of RNG projected to occur in 2024. The project’s $29.6 million capital investment includes the RNG facility, a 1MW solar array and a Company-owned 1.5-mile pipeline to bring the gas to market. Operating and milking cows since 2006, Full Circle Dairy shares Chesapeake Utilities’ commitment to sustainability. Today, the dairy uses solar energy to help power their operations and recycles manure produced at the farm by using it as fertilizer to grow feed for the herd. The addition of an on-site RNG facility advances Full Circle Dairy’s commitment by decreasing methane and greenhouse gas emissions and creating an even more sustainable manure management system for the farm.
Planet Found Energy Development
Acquired in October 2022, Planet Found Energy Development (PFED) is a Maryland-based entity formed by scientists, farmers and business people dedicated to developing poultry litter management technologies. PFED has built and currently operates a farm-scale anaerobic digestion and nutrient recovery system producing biogas from 960 tons of poultry litter annually, while also converting the leftover digestate into a nutrient-rich soil conditioner.
In 2023, a gas upgrading system will be adopted in order to process and purify the biogas into pipeline-quality RNG. Utilizing PFED’s technology and expertise will allow for ongoing growth and development of additional poultry waste-to-RNG facilities designed to improve agricultural conditions throughout the Delmarva region and beyond.
Our RNG Transportation Services
Noble Road Landfill
Chesapeake Utilities subsidiary, Aspire Energy, constructed the Company’s first RNG pipeline transport project in 2021. The 33.1-mile pipeline transports RNG generated from the Noble Road Landfill in Shiloh, Ohio, to Aspire Energy’s system, displacing conventionally produced natural gas. In conjunction with this expansion, an existing compressor station was upgraded, and two new metering and regulation sites were installed.
Alternative Fuel Injection Point
In early 2023, Chesapeake Utilities announced the establishment of an alternative fuel injection point in Nassau County, Florida. The injection point can accept RNG, CNG and LNG and is our first enhancement of a gate system in Florida that allows for alternative fuels to be injected into the pipeline delivery system. The new injection point will enhance Florida Public Utilities’ ability to incorporate renewable fuel into the existing pipeline delivery system and expand service to meet the growing demand in the Wildlight community and surrounding areas.
Marlin Gas Services
Chesapeake Utilities subsidiary, Marlin Gas Services, is one of the country’s leading providers of virtual pipeline solutions for gas utilities, industrial customers, RNG facilities and more across the United States. Our highly-trained team transports pipeline-quality RNG from its production site using customized, proprietary equipment and injects it into local distribution companies where it is then mixed with traditional natural gas and delivered to end-use customers.

Soil Conditioner and Fertilizer Products
In addition to creating RNG, Chesapeake Utilities is using their facilities to convert anaerobically-digested poultry litter into nutrient-rich soil amendment and fertilizer products sold in bulk and retail markets under the brand Element Soil. Using a completely natural process involving no synthetic chemicals, Element Soil products are OMRI-certified consisting of rich, organic materials that guarantee superior growth results.
