Project Overview

Peninsula Pipeline invested $28.3 million to construct 17.3 miles of pipeline and new interconnects in West Palm Beach County, Florida. This project facilitated additional firm natural gas transportation pipeline capacity to Florida Public Utilities (FPU), one of our natural gas distribution utilities, under a 20-year service agreement. FPU requested the additional capacity to serve nearly 10,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers driven by industrial and residential end-user growth in the County, namely the Florida Research Park and four new residential developments.

This project increased pipeline capacity to meet growing natural gas demand in the West Palm Beach area, including a research park and new residential developments. The facilities provide increased reliability, system pressure (desired by industrial customers) and fuel source diversity, furthering our commitment to providing an affordable, reliable, environmentally friendly energy source by delivering energy that makes life better for the people and communities we serve.
By combining what could be four separate projects into one, we created synergies in the permitting, construction and regulatory processes, thereby allowing for a streamlined review process, and minimizing resources and construction-related impacts.
Our Marlin Gas Services business unit provided interim service via compressed natural gas (CNG) tankers in advance of the final pipeline construction and availability, demonstrating our ability to provide reliable service on-demand.
