Project Overview

Peninsula Pipeline invested $10.5 million to construct a total of 11.3 miles of pipeline and new delivery points in Indian River County, Florida. This project added 10,176 dts of firm natural gas transportation pipeline capacity to Florida City Gas (FCG), now one of our natural gas distribution utilities1, under a 20-year service agreement. FCG secured the additional capacity to serve demand for natural gas from communities along the Vero Beach barrier island area, previously the only barrier island in Florida without access to natural gas service.

Advancing our vision of delivering energy that contributes to a more sustainable future:

This project enabled natural gas service to the last unserved barrier island in Florida, furthering our commitment to providing an affordable, reliable, environmentally friendly energy source by delivering energy that makes life better for the people and communities we serve.
Our commitment to safety included holding daily job safety analysis meetings, which contributed to zero accidents during the nearly seven-month construction of the pipeline.
“We operate in service territories where populations and customer demand for energy continue to grow. We remain committed to meeting this demand and providing safe, affordable and reliable natural gas service including making additional infrastructure investments in these growing areas,” said Jeff Householder, chair of the board, president and CEO, Chesapeake Utilities Corporation.
