Hydrogen
Chesapeake Utilities has a two-part strategy to help further hydrogen’s potential as a common fuel source:
Near and Medium Terms:
Fostering safety, awareness, training, education and community involvement and conducting real-world testing
Long Term:
Providing hydrogen to end-users or for industrial processes
We expect our hydrogen-focused initiatives will continue to evolve as a greater amount of research and development is conducted and legislation and regulation continue to evolve. We anticipate using our Safety Town facilities to test hydrogen on company assets, such as pipes, meters and valves, leading to a greater understanding and expansion of hydrogen use.
Invest in hydrogen transport trailers, and play a pivotal role in delivering hydrogen for blending with natural gas tests at our Eight Flags combined heat and power (CHP) facility
Serve as active participant in the Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub (MACH2TM), in which we will utilize our Safety Town facility to promote safety and workforce development and evaluate hydrogen production and delivery to the transportation sector
Partner with higher level education institutions in multiple service territories to advance research and development initiatives
