CleanBay Renewables, Inc. Renewable Natural Gas Project

In July 2020, the Company and CleanBay Renewables Inc. (“CleanBay”) announced a new partnership to generate renewable natural gas (RNG) on the Delmarva Peninsula. As part of this partnership, the Company will own the gas processing portion of the project and transport the RNG produced at CleanBay’s planned Westover, Maryland bio-refinery, to the Company’s natural gas infrastructure in the Delmarva Peninsula region; where the RNG will ultimately be delivered to the Delmarva natural gas distribution customers.

Key Project Highlights

  1. The RNG generated at CleanBay’s planned Westover, Maryland, bio-refinery will reach the market using Marlin Gas Services, a Chesapeake Utilities Corporation (“CPK”) subsidiary, which will transport the RNG to ESNG (CPK’s interstate pipeline subsidiary) where it will be distributed through Chesapeake Utilities’ natural gas infrastructure to customers in the Delmarva region, including low-carbon, renewable vehicle fuel customers.
  2. The Westover facility will be scaled to be large enough to process significant quantities of poultry litter; CleanBay is currently negotiating final financing.
  3. Our goal is to develop an RNG ecosystem directly connected to our growing natural gas infrastructure. This will provide the Delmarva Peninsula with access to affordable, and sustainable RNG, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
