Dover, Del. Chesapeake Utilities Corporation (NYSE:CPK) announced the recipients of its 2024 Aspiring Scholars awards. Since 2006, the scholarship program has supported graduating high school seniors who are the children of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation employees.

Sixteen one-time scholarships were awarded to recipients to apply toward their studies at an accredited college or university, or postsecondary education trade or technical school.

“We believe in the power of education to transform lives,” said Jeff Householder, chair of the board, president and CEO. “By investing in Chesapeake Utilities’ families and the education of their children, we are not only honoring the hard work and dedication of our teams, but also fostering the next generation of innovators and leaders.”

Awards are based on each applicant’s academic record, video essay, extracurricular accomplishments, leadership qualities and community engagement with the Chairman’s Award being the highest award.  Ella Vandervort, daughter of Jennifer Vandervort, is the recipient of the 2024 Chairman’s Award. Ella attends the University of Delaware and is majoring in environmental engineering.

In addition to this year’s Aspiring Scholars awards, Chesapeake Utilities’ Women in Energy employee resource group initiated a one-time scholarship for an Aspiring Scholar female applicant who is studying in a STEM field. Alyssa McCall, daughter of Joseph McCall, was recognized as the first Women in Energy STEM Scholarship recipient. She attends Wilmington University and is majoring in psychology.

Patrick Ballinger, son of Michelle Ballinger, business planning analyst II, customer care, Florida City Gas, Doral, Florida, is attending the University of Alabama.

Brady Brock, son of Mason Brock, energy conservation representative, conservation sales, Florida Public Utilities, Marianna, Florida, is attending Chipola College.

Carrie Clausius, daughter of Jenn Clausius, director, finance, natural gas pipeline accounting, corporate, finance and accounting, Dover, Delaware, is attending the University of Tampa.

Rachel Clevens, daughter of Michael Clevens, regional manager, operations, Chesapeake Utilities, Dover, Delaware, is attending Duquesne University.

Alexander Fevrin, son of Laura Fevrin, engineer, natural gas transmissions, operations compliance/ engineering management, Dover, Delaware, is attending the University of Delaware.

Christina Jones, daughter of Katherine Jones, engineering technician II, engineering, Florida Public Utilities, Marianna, Florida, is attending Chipola College.

Hunter Jones, son of Justin Stankiewicz, general manager, Marlin Gas Services, Wildlight, Florida, is attending The Citadel.

Myla Jones, daughter of Anna Jones, inside sales representative, residential and commercial sales, Florida Public Utilities, West Palm Beach, Florida, is attending St. Petersburg College.

Rylee Manuel, daughter of Danielle Manuel, gas operations supervisor, operations I&M, Florida Public Utilities, West Palm Beach, Florida, is attending the University of Central Florida.

Teyla Martinez, daughter of Joseph Martinez, metered transport, Marlin Gas Services, Spring Hill, Florida, is attending the University of South Florida.

Alyssa McCall, daughter of Joseph McCall, integrity technician II, natural gas transmission, pipeline integrity, Dover, Delaware, is attending Wilmington University.
