Dover, Delaware —Chesapeake Utilities Corporation (NYSE: CPK) announced today that its natural gas local distribution division, Chesapeake Utilities, was named 2017 Kent County Tourism Partner of the Year in recognition of the Company’s collaboration on creating a positive environmental impact, and advancing tourism, within Kent County. The award was presented by the Kent County Tourism Office during the 27th annual Celebration of Tourism in Kent County on November 2 at Dover Downs in Dover, Delaware.

“Chesapeake Utilities is delighted to support responsible growth and promotion of tourism in our region,” said Shane Breakie, Director of Energy Services for Chesapeake Utilities. “Our team values the partnership we’ve built with the Kent County Tourism Office and we look forward to continuing to strengthen the County with environmentally beneficial energy solutions, like natural gas-fueled vehicles.”

Chesapeake Utilities most recently teamed up with Kent County Tourism on the Tourism office’s new compressed natural gas-fueled (CNG) mobile visitor center, The Villager, unveiled on October 26. The Villager will travel across the region and share the message of why Kent County is a high-quality tourist destination. This unique partnership between the Tourism office and Chesapeake Utilities supports the environment through a reduction in carbon footprint; the American Gas Association estimates that CO2 emissions in a CNG-fueled vehicle are 20 to 30 percent lower than in vehicles using traditional fuels.

The Company’s employees have supported Kent County tourism year-round through events like Dover Days, the Delaware Beer and Wine Festival, and the Amish Country Bike Tour.

“Chesapeake Utilities has proven time and time again that they are committed to Kent County,” said Wendie Vestfall, Kent County Tourism president. “Their support of the County’s economic and environmental health is demonstrated by their continuous partnership throughout the year, and we look forward to working together for many years to come.”
